You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.

Name: Emily Artemis Ackerley
Nicknames: Em, Emster (by Stewart), Artie
Birthday: October 10, 1978
Age: 28
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Bloodline: Muggleborn
Spirituality/Religion: Christian

Hometown: Derbyshire, England
Occupation: Caretaker for Magical Creatures
Left/Right/Ambi: Right
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Wand: 7" Ash with unicorn tail feather
Accent: Take a listen

Personality: Emily is an explosion of personality. If there was ever a contest for the fastest speaker in the world, she would win it hands down. The girl does not take a breath when speaking. Why should she? She has so many amazing stories to tell and things to say. It's really a wonder her jaw hasn't fallen off by now. She talks all the time, and even in school, she would get in trouble just because she couldn't keep her trap shut. She is very open and honest about everything and generally has a positive outlook on life. If you were to open up a dictionary and find the word 'bubbly' in it, there would be a picture of Emily right next to it. While many may see her and automatically think she's an airhead, this is not so. She's fairly intelligent and can defend herself if necessary. However, she is generally very sociable and has the tendency to get along with most people.

She is incredibly hyper but not hyper enough to be put on medication for it, so she simply goes around bouncing all over the place, happy as a bug. Nothing can bring her down, as she sees the bright side to everything. She can quite easily be the life of a party, and she can and will do just about anything to make others have fun. She has little to no inhibitions and rarely gets embarrassed by things. She isn't afraid to walk up to a complete stranger and introduce herself. Her number one hobby is socializing. She enjoys having fun with her friends and laughing out loud. She has this overpowering need to be accepted into no matter what sort of social situation she is placed in.

She also has this irrational obsession with buttons. She loves buttons and has collected buttons since a very young age. She isn't sure what the appeal is exactly, but she just really thinks they're cute... like buttons! She has buttons from almost every single outfit she has owned in her life, as well as buttons from her family members' clothing. It is no surprise to find an old pile of clothes at the Ackerley household with buttons missing all over the place. Em had to keep herself busy somehow!

History: The world wasn't all sunshine and rainbows when Emily Artemis Ackerley came into the world. It was her constant giggling and amusement at all things around her that brightened her parents' lives. Capricia and Edmund Ackerley lived in Derbyshire when they decided to wed and raise a family. Emily was a bit of a surprise to the young couple, who wasn't expecting her to arrive so soon, as Capricia had some trouble during her pregnancy, which caused her to deliver early. Despite it all, Emily was a healthy, giggly baby, and her parents still joke to this day that she was always one step ahead of everyone. This was why she was so eager to come out into the world, and this was why she was always so excited about everything.

Em was always a curious girl, learning the gift of gab even before she could properly crawl around her playpen, though when she did learn how to crawl and then walk, no one and nothing could stop her. She would run around everywhere terrorizing her parents' dog, Bilbo, an old bassett hound, all day long. Her favourite pastime was talking on a pretend, plastic telephone that her parents bought for her. She would spend hours going "bah bah bah bah bah buu" on that thing. It drove her parents bananas, but at least it kept her in one place. Shortly after Em turned four years old, Edmund's brother, William, moved his family over to Derbyshire. This was the first time Emily got to meet her cousin, Stewart. She would always want to carry baby Stewie, but it wasn't until she was older that her parents were able to leave her alone with the toddler.

At age five, Emily discovered something amazing: buttons! Everything had buttons! Shirts had buttons. Trousers had buttons. Some skirts had buttons. Some shoes and toys and household accessories had buttons! Buttons, buttons, buttons! Her adoration of buttons (which continues to this day) was borderline obsessive and perhaps even compulsive if you take into account what she'd do for a button, i.e. just about anything. She would trade toys for buttons, food for buttons, gum for buttons, her shoelaces for buttons. Anything! They're just so darn cute! Like... well, like buttons! Soon after this button craze began (but probably not because of it), something strange began to happen to Emily.

Odd events always seemed to follow her around, like if she was playing hide and seek with her cousins, and she was just about to be discovered, she'd momentarily disappear! It was almost like magic! But her parents knew this was silly, and while they were worried about their only little girl, they tried not to make a huge deal out of it. Finally, at age ten, Emily received the strangest letter ever, delivered by an owl. She was probably more amazed by the owl than by the letter, until she opened it and read it. She'd be going to a school to learn magic! Her reaction? "HOMIGOSH MUM, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO A FAIRY PRINCESS! WHAT ON EARTH AM I GOING TO WEAR?" But of course, it was all written out clearly in the letter of what she should wear, but this was a perfect excuse to go shopping!

Her parents decided that they shouldn't tell Stewart's parents about this sending of Emily to a magical boarding school. It wasn't that they were ashamed to have a witch in the family, but they didn't want Stewart's parents to feel strange around them. Besides, they had their own family to tend to, and before they knew it, Emily was off to Hogwarts! She loved every minute of it: the cool, running through the platform wall thingy, the big choo choo, the candies, the giant lake, the hat that talked inside your brain and sorted her into... what was it? "Better be.... HUFFLEPUFF!" It was brilliant! A sea of yellow and black cheered her on as she skipped on over to the Hufflepuff table. Emily couldn't be happier.

And even as the years went on, and things began to grow steadily drearier around the castle, Emily kept a stiff upper lip and encouraged everyone to look on the positive side of things. She'd make them up if she couldn't think of any real ones. Then, Stewart had received his own Hogwarts letter, and Emily practically jumped for joy! It was wonderful that he should be off to Hogwarts with her, and even though she had friends there by the bucket-load, she was always glad to help her cousin out whenever necessary. He had been sorted into Ravenclaw, and even though she wasn't a Ravenclaw, she still clapped and cheered for him, because she just liked to make him feel welcomed. Emily didn't join the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, though she didn't mind asking her parents to buy her a broom. They were brilliant!

And when she graduated, she was just about the best Transfiguration student around, hoping to one day become a registered animagus. She accomplished that feat just last year, when she became a fully registered animagus, her animagus form being that of a squirrel. She doesn't change quite often, though she did show just about everyone right after she got her license. She's quite proud, because she just loves animals. This was why she chose to work at a nursery in London, raising and caring for pygmy puffs and other small, pet-like magical creatures. At home, she has a black Labrador named Specks, because he has two white circles around his eyes making him look like he wears glasses. She loves him, and she loves everyone. And she especially loves buttons!
